In “The Seas are Coming” Nathan Gibbs orchestrates a striking fusion of mountainous terrain, stylized surf, and radiant celestial energy. Vivid blues and cool aquas dominate the canvas, invoking the spirit of the Pacific Northwest—where alpine forests meet powerful coastal swells. Hand-inked evergreens rise defiantly amid sweeping brushstrokes, while rhythmic waves surge forward, embodying nature’s raw momentum.
A geometric sunburst in the top right corner radiates outward with intentional linearity, contrasting the expressive freedom of the layered background. The palette is electric yet grounded, with abstract textures that hint at geological memory and oceanic depth. This is a landscape in motion, where the boundaries between mountain and sea dissolve into harmony.
Workbench monologues is a series of abstract surreal surf art and landscape paintings that often focus on a theme. That theme could be environmental, personal growth, or any other similar topics. I will hide images within the work such as eyes, animals, or subject matter related to the overall theme. They are very organic and texture heavy. Zoom in and take a closer look at paintings within the paintings and see what there is beyond the obvious.
