About the Art

Yes and yes! Nearly all original art comes framed from me in a simple way. I used either pine or redwood strips, eith natural or stained a color. On original purchases over $350 I am happy to change it out for free. If you want to get it framed yourself, just let me know in the order comments and I will remove the frame free of charge. (No money off). It may even save a tad in shipping costs.

For prints you can choose to have it framed through my printing shop on the order pages. Otherwise they come non framed.

Nathan uses mainly acrylic paint on wood panel for his originals. Occasionally he will work on canvas. Often he will incorporate wood stain, inks, spray paint, resin, and other materials in some of his mixed media works.

He generally uses Birch 3/8 inch panel backed with select pine strips. There are occasions where he uses reclaimed panels of various types to be environmentally conscious.

For frames he mostly uses select pine or redwood strips stained or unstained.

All art comes ready to hang with sturdy wire.

Every original is signed, named, and dated on the back with a business card attached.

Mostly no. Nathan usually issues open edition prints. However on occasion there will be a special limited small run of certain styles.

General Info

I am glad you asked. Custom art is prices off of the square inch up to 48in.x48in. based off of the style of art. Once a painting is booked larger than that size a sliding scale is introduced to keep costs down. Prices usually range from $1.00-$2.00 per sq inch depending on the style.

Next, you and I will communicate by email, text, or phone, about what you are looking for. I will give you some homework, like looking at previous art I have created for inspiration, or providing a photo reference for me to work off of. Once that is done, depending on the complexity I will provide a rough sketch for approval after a deposit has been made. I require a 50% NON REFUNDABLE deposit to begin work.

As I create your masterpiece I will check in with you and show progress and get your input. Although some clients want to be totally suprised. While I reserve the right of total creative control, I of course want you to be happy with colors and style.

If you choose to have me frame the art, we will disuss wood types and colors. Usually simple frames are included in your commission.

Let's get started today!

Yes I do! I probably the only artist who does this. I am so confident my art with hold its value I am willing to take it back at any time for full original price trade in value. You drive it to me, or ship it to me, and as long as it is in original condition I will let you trade in the piece. Two months or 20 years from now, as long as I am alive. On ANY original art purchase (not custom art) you have a lifetime trade in guarantee. You can use that credit towards any of my other art. I can not unfortunately refund any money if you decide to take a smaller piece. This doesn't include taxes or original shipping costs.

Shipping

All of our prints are made to order at Spirit Printing in sunny San Diego. Depending on your order you can expect for the print to leave the shop in 7-10 days. Then based off of your location and your shipping choice it will dictate the delivery time.

For original art, Nathan has most of it at his studio, unless it is in one of his local galleries he shows in. Art showing out of state or internationally will not be available for sale. If it is at his studio, you can expect it to be packed and shipped in 3-4 business days, then based off of your location, and your shipping choice, will dictate the delivery time. If he needs to pull it from a gallery, that could add a few more days as well.

All originals are insured for the amount of the sale price. This will be included in your shipping and packing charges. For original art it is generally shipped UPS, and if you live in an area where theft has, or can occur, we recommend letting us know and we will require a signature for delivery. We don't want your amazing piece falling into the wrong hands.

Please take care in opening your package as knives can destroy art. If the package was damaged by the delivery company, please take photos of it so we can file a claim. This should happen ASAP. Also please photograph the damage on the actual art or item you received. Email the photos along with your order information to: info@nathangibbsart.com for originals, and  orders@spiritprinting.com for prints.
