Nathan Gibbs’ urban surfscape 'Freedom from the Favelas' ignites with bold reds, oranges, and abstract reflections. Showing how in Brazil if you learn to surf, you can find a way out of the hard life. A silhouetted surfer and cross-shaped figure evoke spiritual tension between chaos and peace. The cross and Christ the Redeemer focus on the big aspects that loom over Rio. Floral bursts and swirling lines soften the city’s energy, inviting collectors of modern surf art, spirituality, and street-inspired expressionism to dive deeper.

Workbench monologues is a series of abstract surreal surf art and landscape paintings that often focus on a theme.  That theme could be environmental, personal growth, or any other similar topics. I will hide images within the work such as eyes, animals, or subject matter related to the overall theme. They are very organic and texture heavy. Zoom in and take a closer look at paintings within the paintings and see what there is beyond the obvious.
